Special Needs

head-line

The human brain is the center of sensation and intellectual neural activity in the human body. The functional human brain ensures successful accomplishment of developmental milestones in early childhood years. Delay in attaining the developmental milestones, creates multiple difficulties for a child.

A child is said to have Special Educational Needs when he/she is experiencing difficulties in learning and coping with daily life when compared to a typically developing child of the same age. The difficulties can range from learning to understanding to communicating and showcasing appropriate behavior.

Special Needs can either be developmental or acquired in nature. Various life experiences and other such medical and non-medical episodes can hamper the child’s progress and development, thus leading to Special Needs.

1 in every 10 children would have a special need. Special Needs are not necessarily visible. Most often such special needs are brushed under the carpet as they are usually non- physical and non- visual. The realm of disability not only starts and ends with physical difficulties, but it goes above and beyond the physical and the visual aspect. Conditions like ADHD, Dyslexia and Autism to name a few are not visible difficulties. However, these unseen hidden difficulties create equivalent tension, fatigue and challenges like those of the physical impairments.

India has an estimated 53 million of children with physical and non-physical impairments. Identifying these children and their needs at an early age is extremely crucial as it can promise better outcomes.

Children having such needs require more time and attention and therefore making parenting and learning more challenging. However, these children have their own special skill sets and abilities which would make them outstanding in their own sphere.

At Braintism we cater to children - people who have a diagnosis in Autism, Dyslexia, ADHD/ADD, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Sensory Difficulties, Conduct Disorders and Emotional Difficulties.
